A Slower Clean for Older Houses
What we do differently in a house that’s 100 years old.
The North End, the Stadium District and Proctor are full of early-1900s houses with original trim, built-in cabinets, leaded glass and old hardwood. Dust settles in every groove, and the wrong product can dull a finish that has lasted a century.
- Trim, baseboards and door casings wiped by hand, not just dusted
- Built-ins and glass-front cabinets wiped down
- Radiators and window tracks cleared of dust
- Hardwood cleaned with a damp mop, never a wet one
- Old and leaded glass handled gently
The first visit is usually the longest. A deep clean to start is recommended, not required, and after that a regular schedule keeps the dust from building back up.
